Fourth in Asia: Asia Cement Achieves SBTi 1.5°C Targets Across the Value Chain

Asia Cement Corporation has reached a major decarbonization milestone with the approval of its 1.5°C-aligned near-term targets by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), covering Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions. With this achievement, Asia Cement becomes the fourth cement company in Asia to meet the most stringent SBTi standard, demonstrating its commitment to extending climate action across the entire value chain.

Asia Cement noted that it had already achieved its original 2025 carbon reduction targets ahead of schedule in 2024. Using 2021 as the base year, the company has committed to reducing Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions intensity per ton of cementitious material by 22.9% by 2030, while targeting a 25% reduction in absolute Scope 3 emissions related to value chain investments. The targets also explicitly cover land-related emissions and biogenic removals, ensuring alignment with international standards.

In support of its low-carbon transition, Asia Cement continues to lead through innovation, becoming the first cement producer in Taiwan to complete carbon footprint verification across its entire product portfolio and advancing the development and application of low-carbon cement. By integrating circular economy practices, the company collaborates with industry partners and local governments to convert waste into alternative raw materials and fuels, reducing emissions while delivering environmental and economic benefits.

Asia Cement emphasized that achieving net zero requires long-term commitment and value chain collaboration. Through strong governance and sustained action, the company aims to turn decarbonization into a core driver of long-term competitiveness.
